Privacy Notice

CSIRO, as the Centre Agent of the Pawsey Supercomputing Centre (“Pawsey”) responsible for administering its day-to-day operations, collects and stores your personal information for administration of your use of Pawsey services to support your research. 


Your personal information is protected by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Privacy Act). CSIRO will handle your information in accordance with this Act, this Privacy Notice, CSIRO’s Privacy Policy, and as otherwise required or authorised by law.


For operational, security, and compliance reasons, CSIRO must have up-to-date contact details (including your contact details, employer/ organisational affiliation, project details, and current allocations and usages of Pawsey services) for all active users.

CSIRO may use and disclose your contact details and information related to your use of Pawsey services to an authorised representative of your institution.  Applications for the use of Pawsey services may be disclosed to third parties, in confidence, for the purpose of assessing applications.  CSIRO may also use information about your project, including project lead, allocations and services provided to the project for Pawsey marketing purposes and reporting.  CSIRO may provide de-identified aggregated data (e.g. project funding) to Government and other funding bodies. 

HubSpot, a contracted service provider, has been engaged to provide customer relationship management (including engagement and marketing) for Pawsey. In the course of providing these services, when you register on the Pawsey website to our mailing list, event, and training activities, HubSpot will collect certain personal information about you for the purposes of facilitating your engagement with Pawsey (and Pawsey’s engagement with you).

CSIRO stores your personal information on CSIRO resources controlled by CSIRO.  may be stored overseas where necessary or practical for Pawsey’s operations. This includes where Pawsey engages contracted service providers. For example, HubSpot’s servers are in the United States. CSIRO will only engage contracted service providers to handle personal information where it is satisfied that it has reasonable contractual provisions in place to protect your privacy, and where those providers are located in countries with appropriate legal privacy protections. By registering or otherwise engaging with Pawsey, you consent to the possible transfer of your personal information to servers located outside of Australia and you acknowledge that this information may not be subject to the requirements of the Privacy Act. If you have any concerns about this, you should not engage with Pawsey.

Pawsey is an unincorporated joint venture between CSIRO, Curtin University, Murdoch University and the University of Western Australia. Where your personal information has been disclosed to one of Pawsey’s member organisations (other than CSIRO), those institutions will be responsible for the handling of your personal information in accordance with the laws applicable to them.
