Problem
Jobs are in the queue for longer than expected.
Solution
There are multiple possibilities, depending on whether your allocation is exhausted, and what other users are doing.
Allocation is exhausted
For most allocations (excluding Director's Share), using up your quarterly allocation will result in dropping to low priority mode. See /wiki/spaces/SUP/pages/55413738 for more information. Generally, you either need to wait until the end of the quarter for the usage reset, or in exceptional circumstances ask for /wiki/spaces/SUP/pages/55410905.
Other Users
The load on the system is dependent on demand from other users. People tend to submit jobs during business hours, and the load on the system is less on weekends. Academic teaching periods, ARC grant application time, public holidays, all affect demand and thus the queue time for jobs. Generally you need to wait, or in exceptional circumstances ask for /wiki/spaces/SUP/pages/55410905.
