Permission Denied: Going to /tmp Instead

Permission Denied: Going to /tmp Instead

Problem

jobs on Magnus fail, with the error messages including "slurmstepd: error" and "Permission denied: going to /tmp instead"

Solution

Submit the job again.  There is likely nothing wrong with your job.

Slurm on the compute node has failed to look up permissions from LDAP.

Tell the helpdesk, as steps were taken to resolve this in the March 2018 maintenance.
