HELP DESK

A support mechanism for all users of Pawsey systems and services. It provides a single point of contact to seek information or help for any aspect of Pawsey, its operations, or facilities. If in doubt, submit your query here and our triage team will direct your request to the most suitable resource. All requests will be triaged within 4 office hours of receipt.

Security

Pawsey manages security for the Data and Systems under Pawsey control and makes recommendations to external parties as appropriate based on observations. Pawsey also monitor and manage adherence to the pawsey Security policy, and triage any security issues or incidents as they arise.

Visit the Helpdesk Portal or email: help@pawsey.org.au with your request.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT & OUTREACH

Training

Pawsey Supercomputing Centre training courses include introductory sessions on Pawsey, Supercomputing, Cloud computing and Linux, Data Management as well as advanced sessions on MPI, OpenMP, GPU programming and containers. Sessions on visualisation and data are also offered.

SCIENTIFIC PLATFORMS

The Scientific Platforms Service(s) are focussed on the hardware and related technologies on which researchers can implement their applications, carry out processing or store their data, these services include the equipment to deliver an end-to-end capability.

The Pawsey Supercomputing Centre maintains a range of compute capability and data storage capacity for use by the research community, including:

  • Magnus - a Cray XC40 Supercomputer, for highly-parallel distributed programs.
  • Galaxy - a Cray XC30 Supercomputer, used exclusively for radio astronomy.
    • Setonix - an HPE/Cray EX supercomputer for traditional HPC, GPU-accelerated programs

    ,
    • and large memory applications

    , and other specialised workflows.Topaz - a dedicated GPU-enabled cluster, for GPU-accelerated programs
    • which also supports radio astronomy operations. It also contains GPU accelerated remote visualisation systems and large scale data movers.

    • Garrawarla - CPU and GPU cluster dedicated to radio astronomy operations and science.
    • Nimbus -  a Research Cloud allowing the provisioning of resources for pilot studies, data analysis workflows, virtual laboratories, etc.
    • Storage - Pawsey provides several levels of storage facilities and filesystems for research applications.

Documentation for using the supercomputers can be found in the Supercomputing Documentation area.

More information relating to the Nimbus research cloud service can be found by following the links found in the Nimbus Documentation.

Technical information on the HPC systems can be found in the more detailed HPC Systems documentation.

    Networking

Pawsey manages data movement & communications throughout the Pawsey environment, as well as external links and ingest services to partner entities and research facilities as required.

This link will take you to where you can Apply for Nimbus Cloud access.
